Endometriosis & Infertility

By

Fertility will be much improved when a woman suffering with endometriosis is cleared up. Endometriosis is common gynecological condition that can be treated effectively with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs. Many women seeking to get pregnant may have difficulty if they have endometriosis. Western Medicine has theories on the cause of endometriosis, but they are only theories. Chinese Medicine has a different take on the cause of this condition and how to treat it.

In Chinese Medicine, it is said that a woman’s cycle goes with her emotions. And one of the main factors, if not the main factor in endometriosis is stress. Now many women may realize that they have more difficult, painful, heavy periods in times of stress. This may be a new idea for you, but it’s true. Now in Chinese Medicine, it is said that stress can lead to stagnation. What does that mean? Well think about it, whenever your under stress, your body tends to be more tense and tight. Most notice that stress in their shoulders and/or neck. However, this tension can also occur in the inside of the body causing hormonal imbalance and a disruption of the uterus filling up blood and emptying blood. Now if the filling/emptying mechanism becomes disrupted, this can lead to stagnation in the uterus causing inflammation, clotting, heavy bleeding and pain. Surgery will temporarily clean up the stagnation, but if your ability to manage life and stress does not change, it will come back. Endometriosis can also cause anemia in many women due to heavy bleeding. So what must be remembered is that your chances of conception improve dramatically when you have a normal cycle. That means your cycle is about 28-30 days, it should be painless, minimal premenstrual symptoms with fresh bright red blood and no clots.

Once you create the environment for optimal conception, it’s just a matter of time before pregnancy happens. Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs are the main therapies used. Although I do Reflexology on many of my Endometriosis patients as well. The goal of the treatment is to regulate the cycle, stop bleeding and decrease pain. Sometimes using bio-identical progesterone cream can speed up the healing process. Many women can see significant improvement within 3-6 months, but I do not recommend trying to conceive until healing is complete. The more compliant the patient is, the sooner they’ll see results.
